On Feb 3, 2023, 50 cars on a Norfolk Southern Railroad train derailed in East Palestine, Ohio. They were full of toxic chemicals, including vinyl chloride. They were then set on fire by the government, apparently to make it easier to clear the railroad tracks. This was the worst possible decision. Many of the toxic chemicals bled into the soil and water, some were burned into the air. These chemicals are now affecting air quality within the East coastal states and certain areas like Hudson Valley portion of New York, local government officials are warning residents about the harmful air quality.
THE PROBLEM:
A highly flammable colorless gas used when making plastic is a known carcinogenic and linked to liver and breast cancer. It is used in making PVC plastics. It is not thought to bioaccumulate in the adipose or fat tissue as it is so volatile and rapidly degrades. Unfortunately, it is thought to be highly mobile in the ground and soil, which can affect drinking water.
Vinyl chloride is used to produce PVC plastics used for pipes, as well as in some packaging, coatings and wires.
Its health risks were uncovered at a B.F. Goodrich factory in the Rubbertown neighborhood of the city I attended medical school in -Louisville, Kentucky. In the 1970s, four workers involved in the polymerization process for producing polyvinyl chloride there each developed angiosarcoma of the liver, an extremely rare type of tumor.Their cases were paramount in the history of occupational medicine and led to the worldwide recognition of vinyl chloride as a carcinogen.
The direct, intracellular metabolism of vinyl chloride proceeds via oxidation in the liver to an intermediate compound (chlorooxirane) which ultimately degrades to carbon dioxide and water (Hartmans and DeBont, 1992). The chlorooxirane, however an unstable epoxide intermediate, that is converted during phase one liver metabolism. It is extremely toxic, so to fully get rid of it, our phase two liver metabolism must be in peak performance.
Vinyl chloride breaks down into phosgene, hydrogen chloride (and hydrochloric acid when burned) and 2-Hydroxyethyl Mercapturic Acid (HEMA), amongst other by products we will discuss. All of them are linked to breast cancer, liver cancer, nonalcoholic liver tissue or fatty liver, central nervous system defects, and leukemia.
SOLUTIONS:
THE PROBLEM:
Phosgene is a more toxic by product of vinyl chloride and this what experts were trying to avoid creating when they burned the chemicals in the derailment. Phosgene is a by-product of burning vinyl chloride.
It produces reactive oxygen species, known as hydroxy radicals, damages DNA, causes non-cardiogenic pulmonary edema, and respiratory death. Phosgene is likely what killed the fish and wildlife immediately. Opening drainage and providing building blocks for Acetylation in phase two liver detox is paramount to eradicate phosgene.
SOLUTIONS:
The Problem: A flammable clear liquid used in making paints, copolymers, sealants, coatings, adhesives, fuel, textiles, plastics, and caulk. It is known to cause irritation to the skin, eyes, and respiratory system.
SOLUTIONS:
In rodent models, butyl acrylate is metabolized by carboxylesterase or reactions with glutathione, this detoxification produces acrylic acid, butanol, and mercapturic acid waste, which is excreted. So up that phase two liver detox and open drainage! Taurine, TUDCA, choline, methionine, glutathione, castor oil packs.
A colorless liquid used in making paints and plastics can produce hazardous vapors under heat. Avoidance, liver support, sweating, NAC/Glutathione
A highly flammable colorless liquid used in making solvent is deemed as acutely toxic. Avoidance, liver support, sweating, NAC.
THE PROBLEM:
Is known as a volatile organic compound that is rapidly metabolized and forms toxic by products that make reactive oxygen species, damages DNA, disrupt Glutathione synthesis, and induce cell death or apoptosis.
Benzene starts out as a liquid, but when exposed to air, it evaporates very quickly. Once evaporated, its dense vapors can accumulate in low-lying areas. It can also dissolve in water and be spread through waterways and rain run-off. It is found in rubber, lubricants, dyes, detergents, pesticides, plastics and paints.
Longterm exposure is linked to cancer, specifically leukemia, anemia, decreased immunity and infertility issues.
SOLUTIONS:
Avoidance, air filters, open drainage like sweating and bile movement, binders, avoid EMF.
As we mentioned about certain part of Eastern Coastal states are now noticing poor air quality and acid rain production. East Palentine incident is going cause major environmental and health consequences to humans/animals for years to come. Best things we can do is to stay calm and control the things we can. We provided wealth of information above so in this section, we will summarize an actiionable plan:
In supporting any form biotoxin/environmental toxins, we need to support our drainage pathway – supporting our bowel movement; proper liver/bile flow, kidney, sweating, and lymphatic drainage. This is the very basic bodily support we can provide and to improve now. Here are basic supplement protocols we can provide:
